Funeral Flower Tribute Selection
Important Points to Remember:-
Most undertakers / funeral directors will be able to arrange flowers for you, in most case they then pass the order on to a florist or someone that works from home but some will keep a commission of up to 30% of the amount you spend. This will make the tribute a lot smaller than if you go direct to your local qualified high-street florist. Example:- £100 wreath less 30% commission given to the funeral director will only leave £70 for your tribute.
Always ask to see a selection of the florist work, images on a website can just be stock images and not the florist actual work, always look for Florists that are members of the Good Florist Guide and viewing the shop gallery will normally give a better overview of the florists work.
Online order takers pose as a local florist but maybe many miles away, they will then send the order through to a local florist to make. Again these order takers may take a large commission from the value you have spent. Always Google map or go to the BFA website to see the Florist you are using is in or near the area you want to send flowers to.
If you need to send funeral flowers to another part of the country and don’t have internet access please always visit a local high-street florist and they will be able to sort this out for you.
Lots of people call themselves florists and work from home, these are usually non-qualified, and their work is not the best, if there is a problem there is usually no come back.

Funeral Flower Tribute Selection
Special Note about Tributes that are Based / massed in Chrysanthemums.
The humble white chrysanthemum, the staple flower for a vast percentage of our floral tributes, used by florists far and wide for lettering, hearts, pillows, cushions, wreaths and countless bespoke designs.
This seemingly insignificant little bloom is currently the cause of much stress, anguish and worry throughout the florist community.
Why you ask? In the last few weeks, the cost price of this flower has increased by over 50%, it has more than doubled, almost tripled in the last year and it is increasing every day.
Chrysanthemum, traditionally known as a ‘cheap’ flower is currently far out pricing premium flowers such as roses, lily and lisianthus (which has also doubled in price recently!).
Due to the rising energy costs some growers have gone out of business, some growers have turned off their hot houses halting production and those remaining few have had to pass their rising overheads on to us, their customers.
The demand currently far outweighs supply and that’s for all colours and varieties of chrysanthemum.
We have tried to keep our prices steady for as long as possible but in the face of it, we have no option but to raise them significantly otherwise we simply won’t have a viable business ourselves.
We are looking at cost effective alternatives and will always guide you through the options as best we can.
At the moment, gypsophila, carnations and white hydrangea are looking like they will be great contenders although they all have a slightly fluffier finish. If you have any questions regarding this, any concerns or worries then please do get in touch, we’re always on hand to help where possible.
